40 Hadith an-Nawawi

These hadith were compiled by Imam Yahya ibn Sharaf an-Nawawi, one of the great scholars of Islam, who gathered narrations summarizing the foundations of the religion. Though known as forty, the collection contains forty-two hadith, each addressing a major principle of Islam.

The explanations presented on these pages are based upon the work of Shaykh Salih ibn Fawzan al-Fawzan, whose commentary explains each hadith according to the understanding of Ahlus Sunnah wal Jama’ah. His explanation clarifies the meanings, defines important terms, and connects each hadith to the broader principles found in the Qur’an and Sunnah. Every page in this set has been checked against his explanation.
